Massage is amongst the oldest of therapeutic health treatments used by man.
Massage is an accepted part of many physical rehabilitation programs and has proven beneficial in combating many chronic conditions such as lower back pain, arthritis, and bursitis. Benefits of massage therapy include:
Swedish Massage is the classic Western massage that uses percussion, kneading, friction and gliding for rehabilitation, relaxation and health maintenance. The techniques utilized by Swedish massage have become the foundation for most styles within the discipline.
Deep Tissue Masssage
Deep Tissue massage entails working past surface tissue into the deeper muscles of the body to alleviate chronic pain and release muscle adhesions. Cross-fiber friction is a major component of deep-tissue massage.
Thai Massage (Nuad Bo-Rarn) is a melding of Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine systems. It unblocks trapped energy along the sen energy lines that originate at the hara, the navel, and travel out to the limbs and orifices. Nuad Bo-Rarn rebalances your spirit, mind and body systems. Our therapist works with the client on a floor mat and administeres compression and streching techniques to the body.
Reiki
Reiki describes both the vibrational energy used during treatment and the healing modality itself. Reiki is administered with a light touch of the hands upon various parts of the recipient's body in a pattern that promotes optimum energy balancing. Reiki accelerates healing of physical injuries, discomforts and diseases.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release is the three-dimensional application of sustained pressure and movement into the fascial system in order to eliminate fascial restrictions. First, an assessment is made by visually analyzing the human frame, followed by the palpation of the tissue texture of various fascial layers. Upon locating an area of fascial tension, gentle pressure is applied in the direction of the restriction. Myofascial realse is an effective therapeutic approach in the relief of cervical pain, back pain, fibromyalgia, scoliosis, neurological dysfunction, restriction of motion, chronic pain and headaches.
Neuromuscular Therapy aims to re-establish homeostasis between the nervous system and musculoskeletal system using techniques such as friction, compression and gliding. In assessing, treating and preventing soft tissue injuries and pain, NMT considers trigger points, neural interferences, nutrition, emotional well-being, ischemia, and postural/biomechanical dysfunction.
Sports Massage
Sports Massage is a specialized, eclectic form of Swedish Massage, that focuses on enhancing athletic performance and facilitating post-recovery for the amateur and professional athlete. The pre-event massage helps the athlete avoid serious injury by warming and stretching tendons and ligaments and making joints more flexible. Post-event massage is restorative, reducing soreness and cramping, freeing muscle spasms, extending flexibility and facilitating the movement of lymph for elimination.
Hot Stone Massage
Hot Stone Massage Therapy involves the application of water-heated basalt stones of varying sizes to key points on the body, giving a deep massage and creating sensations of comfort and warmth. The direct heat relaxes muscles, allowing manipulation of a greater intensity than with regular massage.

Alexander Technique
What is the Alexander Technique?
The Alexander Technique is a simple and practical method to conciously direct movement.
F.M. Alexander, an Australian actor who lost his voice while reciting, developed the Technique more than a century ago. Through persevering observation and experimentation to correct his physical problems, Alexander identified primary principles of movement. By using his thinking, he modified habits that interfered with his coordination for speaking and all activities.
The Alexander technique encourages you to think conciously, constructively and kinesthetically. Kinesthesia is your sense of movement, weight and position. Through expanded kinesthetic awareness, you become able to redirect unnecessary muscular tension into liveliness and ease.
Our bodies are designed for movement. Every cell of the living body is in constant motion--even when we are still. As children we move effortlessly. That ease is often "hidden" in the adult body under ineffective habits--they can be unlearned.
What benefits can I expect?
The Alexander Technique allows you to regain your upright stature, working with gravity, not against it.
Our anti-gravity response (uprightness) is the foundation for the healthy functioning of all our body systems. Habits of postural misuse compromise this response by tensing layers of muscle and fascia. Instead of remaining effortlessly upright you "work hard" against the downward pull of gravity, attempting to maintain a familiar place of balance. You can regain balance and coordination -- you can improve your energy and feel healthy through...
As habits are unlearned, new experiences provide a foundation for improved adaptation, independence and self-care. The reopened pathways of behavior allow your body to perform daily activities--and to easily change your responses to the difficult challenges of stress and pain.
The Alexander Technique facilitates self-directed change forming new adaptive patterns of unrestrained movement. You can feel different--you can feel more alive.
